![]() ![]() I can move my X-Plane folder easily, install it where I want, access the betas easily, no DRM à la Steam, no need to start a third party software to get XP running, total ease of use. ![]() That's exactly why I purchased from Laminar. But still, it's Laminar who makes X-plane better, and if you buy it on Steam, you probably fork half of your cash to a multi-million dollar company. If you are more like a 'give me a one-click solution' type of guy, then the Steam version won't have any downsides for you. Also, Steam will probably hide you X-plane somewhere in steam/steamapps/common, which to me would be a chore to be put up with (but I'm tweaking the files and folders a lot). Steam users don't always get ALL the betas, or they get them later. If you want to support the devs more, please get the digital version.Īs far as I know, Steam can take up to 50% off! Which is ridiculous, even if you add up the benefits of the extra exposure! Those guys just ripe the sweat of Laminar research's hard work, and they take that cut for doing absolutely no work (apart from hosting the files).Īnother downside could be, if you are more a like a 'tweaker' personality. The downside is that while you might be able to save money on a Steam sale, LR does not get as much money in return since Steam takes a cut from it, even at full price. ![]()
